I give up!

I am still couponing, of course, but I have decided to give up blogging about it because it seems to be taking up too much of my time. However, I'm not just going to leave you high and dry...I'm referring you to my favorite "coupon-er" websites. It's called SavvyShopperDeals.com and it's primarily for those of us living in Utah. Another site I've heard is good (and is a nationwide shopper site) is called PinchingYourPennies.com. Keep clipping and keep saving! I know you can do it!

No coupons, but still deals!

Cereal Schmereal

If you haven't gone to Albertson's yet this week, GET THERE and get there FAST! They are having an amazing sale on Kellogg's cereal! If you buy 7 boxes of cereal, a catalina coupon prints out at checkout for $10 OFF YOUR NEXT ORDER! I know what you're thinking...that may not be the best deal because the original price of the cereal is probably high to start with. Nope, wrong! Many cereal varieties are 3/$5, which means $1.67 each, which means after your $10 coupon, you have a FABULOUS deal!

Last night I went to check out the sale, but was a little disappointed to find that none of the "normal" Frosted Mini-Wheats were actually 3/$5. The ones that were on sale were the Cinnamon or Strawberry ones. Well, since cinnamon didn't tempt me, I decided to try the strawberry.THEY ARE AWESOME! I had a bowl last night and I've aleady had two bowl-fuls today...yum! So today I went back and used the $10 coupon that had printed out to buy 7 MORE boxes. That means I paid exactly $2.03 for 7 additional boxes. PLUS, to my surprise and delight, ANOTHER $10 COUPON PRINTED OUT! So I bought 7 MORE! It just keeps going and going! My pantry is getting stocked up and I'm happy because I love this cereal!

Just call me...

Slacker. It's not a word I'm really used to hearing about myself, but this week, I've been happy to be a slacker. I'm trying to prioritize my life a little bit better than I have in the past, so I'm happy and sad to say that I will NOT be posting the weekly deals at every store any longer. (It's just taking me TOO long each week and there are better things to do with my time...like be FUN MOM!) Instead, I will be posting a link each week to a coupon-shopping site that I love and use often. It's called Savvy Shopper Deals and I think it's a very user-friendly website. There you can find a coupon index, a "shopping wizard", a printable organizer, and MORE! Check it out and let me know what you think. If you have any questions, please ask!

I feel a little like I'm abandoning you! But I do hope to keep posting pictures and success stories from my shopping trips to (hopefully) inspire you to keep up the coupon-shopping. My New Fave

If you're like me, your hands get VERY dry in the winter. Mine get so bad that they often bleed. I looked down at them yesterday and realized they looked like the hands of a 60-year-old. Depressing! I've tried moisturizing them with regular lotions and sometimes even slather them with baby oil gel before bed, but they always tend to get dry again...and fast. Well, last night I found a new favorite...Olay Quench body lotion. Has anyone out there tried it? It's awesome! I put some on my hands last night before bed and my hands were STILL soft this morning when I woke up!! Thanks for your comments. It's good to hear that there are some loyal readers out there! By the way, if you've chosen not to get coupons in the paper, you can print out online coupons. Also, you can talk to you neighbors (maybe Relief Society sisters) and ask them to share their unused coupons with you! If there's a will, there's a way!

You can get some great deals at Target with coupons because you can combine them with also manufacturer's coupons! Hope this helps some of you!

Week #4

By now, some of you have probably earned some money back from either Walgreen's or RiteAid. If you haven't received your checks from either store yet, hang in there. It can sometimes take a while. I finally received some checks from RiteAid and wanted to pass on some info...RiteAid rebate checks can be deposited or cashed OR you can simply take them into your local RiteAid and use them like a gift card. That way, the money you get back can go directly toward other purchases that you will get money back on and so on. (I hope that makes sense...)

Buy 1, Get 2 FREE!

I just got back from the greatest sale I've been to in a LONG time! Mervyn's is having a blowout clearance event. Buy 1 clearance item and get 2 FREE! They had clearance racks in each clothing department and there were still lots of good things there when I left. I got 26 items for $50! That's right...the average price I paid per item was less than $2!!! There were sweaters, jeans, shirts, pajamas, robes, etc. Go check it out!

Good deals at Albertson's

Albertson's has some great deals this week. They have 10 items for $10 and 10 items for $15. The way this works is you HAVE to buy the 10 items (10 items per transaction...you can do more than one transaction) to get the cheaper price. The tricky part is making sure you have the right amount of items to qualify. You can mix and match things in each group, but be careful and make sure you count! And use your coupons on as many things as you can for the absolute best deal! (This is when having 5 coupons of each thing is beneficial!)

Week #2 Albertson's & Smith's

Before I get into all the deals waiting for you, I wanted to let you in on some "lingo" for couponers:
B1G1F = Buy 1 Get 1 FREE
B2G1F = Buy 2 Get 1 FREE
Tearpad = Coupons found in aisles at stores and do NOT come in Sunday papers
Catalina = Coupons printed out at cash register when you buy a combination of specific products
OYNSO = On Your Next Shopping Order

Go look in the store for their yellow tags on participating products to save even MORE money!

My organized madness

This is the binder I take everywhere with me. It holds what I consider BIG bucks. And in case you were wondering, I am aware that it is ridiculously huge.Thanks to my mom, I have a nice organized index of the different categories of coupons. This is a big help considering the number of coupons that I keep.
I have purchased baseball card holders from Walmart that conveniently show me my coupons at each page.
I have a friend who uses a briefcase-type binder for her coupons. It comes with handles and zips up all-around. I know it's a sin, but I covet her binder. I would buy myself one just like it, but they are quite expensive...and because I am into SAVING money rather than SPENDING money, I am content with what I have. After all, it gets the job done!

More FREEBIES

Sometimes coupons come in the Sunday paper that don't require any kind of purchase -- it's just a FREE item. Here are some of the most recent:

Purina Carvers dog snacks--FREE with coupon (1/6/08 or 1/13/08)-(I found mine at Macey's...normally $2.99)
SPAM Singles--FREE with coupon (1/20/08)
Johnson & Johnson Bath Buddies Bars--FREE with $1 off coupon (1/20/08)-(As far as I know, these are only free at Walmart and Smith's because their regular price for them is $0.99.)

Also, at Walgreen's this week, you can get ChapSticks Naturals for FREE after $2 register rewards--no coupons needed

And, I know it's not a freebie, but I thought I'd let you know anyway because it's such a good deal...at RiteAid, you can get Chex Mix for only $0.38 each when you use $0.50 off coupon. These make great snacks for Super Bowl parties!

A Plan for a Prepared Pantry

I'm cheap. I'm actually pretty proud of it. So I've found the perfect new passion...coupon-shopping! Each Sunday morning I look forward to seeing 5 (that's right, FIVE!) newspapers out on my driveway and I can't wait to clip those coupons! I've always been a fan of early shopping on the day after Thanksgiving because of the great deals, but also because of the major adrenaline rush you get when you actually find that "special item"! That's why I started this new blog -- so that I can those of you out there who want to find the BEST deals around will have easy access to the right info. It doesn't matter if you subscribe to FIVE newspapers or just ONE newspaper a week, I'm going to try to make it easier for all of us to get some stuff for FREE or SUPER CHEAP! If you're interested, add it to your favorites and check back often. I'm going to try to update weekly or even more often, depending on the deals!
